We have come to see ourselves as separate entities from mother earth, while in truth we are completely dependent on her, we are one with her. Even though we take her for granted we are held by her each moment of our life. She is life. One of the reasons for our separation from mother earth is our separation from ourselves. When we lose contact with our true being, we feel disconnected to everything, we experience an emptiness and a void that have many different expressions, be it frustration, depression, anxiety, addiction, or other forms of disease and suffering. We try to fill the emptiness with external substitutes, but nothing can really silence that void other than reconnect to ourselves and mother earth.
Some of us awaken from the top down and others from the bottom up. Wherever you start your spiritual journey, grounding and anchoring the new energy into your body is key. Without staying in the body no in depth healing will occur, of course we can heal parts of our etheric body, astral body etc., but without connecting into the emotional layers and the physical body, we will not be able to embody the transformation, hence we will not live it here on earth.
We all have experienced the feeling of being drained by a situation or a person. It is easy to create a scape goat andput the blame on the person that in our experience drained us from energy – “the energy thief”. However, since we obey under the “laws of the universe” these experiences are perfectly orchestrated for us and by ourselves. Had we not had the wounds/blockages around that specific area the draining of energy touches, we would never be drained of energy. So, our greater selves attract situations where we can be healed. Of course, this takes some openness, curiosity and experience to discover, and it also helps to have developed the inner observer, the part pf you that can observe yourself with a greater perspective, to be able to catch these situations in the moment or shortly after.
When we are un-grounded, we easily loose our power, just imagine a tree with thin and fragile roots, the moment a strong wind hits the tree, it will fall. Likewise, that tree with fragile roots will have difficulties keeping nourished and keeping its energy for long. When we are grounded, we can hold our energy longer, we feel centered, more balanced and can easily separate our own energy from others – we simply become clearer on who we are.
In the first phases of awakening when we start opening up and explore new frequencies, it is tempting to search for high states of being. It usually takes time and some spiritual maturity to realize the difference between going higher and going deeper, and that choosing to go deeper instead of higher is a much shorter journey.
One reason for not grounding is that some of us have the feeling that it is not safe to be in the body. Often our experience of different traumatic events creates a feeling of not being safe in the body, and the notion that other dimensions offers a peaceful sanctuary. However, most of us come to realize that the true healing is to be found in the present state and in the body, but it can take some time to get there depending on the degree of trauma held.
Before we learn the rhythm of anchoring and grounding, life can be very draining and confusing. To be grounded is a state of being and a frequency, and you can remind your system to enter that state by using different tools. As always, we are all different, and what someone else use might not apply to your system, let the list below inspire you and explore what works for you.
Tools for grounding
Earth – Mother earth holds our natural resonance, just by being in nature we recalibrate to our natural state of being, being in our body. Take your shoes off and walk or sit on the ground for 20 minutes, or just lie down on the grass.
Water – All kinds of water will calm the nervous system, the electro-magnetic field and re-align your whole system. A swim in the ocean or the sea in summer or having cold shower or a salt bath at home (espsom salt, Himalayan salt, Sea salt, etc.) have beautiful effects in realigning and grounding.
Crystals & Stones – Hold them in your hand, carry them in your pocket or have them beside you or under the pillow at night. Examples of stones & crystals with a grounding effect are; Tourmaline, Shungite, Garnet, Ruby, Hematite, Obsidian, Boji Stones, Labradorite.
Scents – Scent has a direct effect on the limbic system, hence playing a major role for memory, mood and emotions and can alter your state of being instantly. Examples of essential oils with a grounding effect are; Pine, Palo Santo, Cedar, Vetiver, Juniper, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Rosewood, Ginger, Clove, Black pepper, Rosemary, Cypress, Patchouli oil, Elemi, Ylang ylang, and Lavender.
Sound – Selected crystal bowls, alchemy bowls and metal bowls emits a sound which grounds you. The root vibrates in harmony to “C” note. Additionally chanting “LAM” will have a positive effect on this chakra.
Colors – The colors red and brown hold grounding frequencies, wear it or have the colors in your surroundings
Food – Root vegetables. E.g. beets, carrots, garlic, ginger, turnips, potatoes, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes and radishes. Beans and nuts. Red food like apples or pomegranates. Raw high quality chocolate can have the same effect.
Movement – all kind of physical movement that redirects our focus to the body is very helpful for grounding.
Affirmation – I am safe in this world. I belong in this world, and am a part of Gaia (mother-earth). I am at peace with my surroundings, with the people and the events that occur.
Visualization/meditation – Body scanning is a wonderful tool. A favorite short meditation is where you put your focus on the feet and feel how they start growing roots through the floor and down deeper and deeper into earth. Imagine how the roots draw up red energy from mother earth that fills your feet, and when you feel that your feet are filled up, let the energy wander up through your body. After doing this meditation a couple of times the grounding will happen faster and stronger. While doing the visualization take deep breathes, when you breathe in feel how you are inhaling new, fresh and light energy – and when breathing out, feel how you are letting go of heavy and used energy that you no longer need. A beautiful way to close the meditation is by thanking mother earth for her help in this transformation.
